HOW TO IMPLEMENT SOCIAL ENTERPRISE INITIATIVES IN YOUR NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION
Community organisations seeking to diversify their revenue streams and increase social impact could implement a social enterprise initiative. By combining business strategies with a social mission, not for profits can create sustainable programs that generate income while addressing pressing community needs. Here’s how to get started:
1. Identify a social problem
Identify a social problem that aligns with your community organisation’s mission
2. Assess skills and resources
Leverage the existing skills and resources within your organisations. Conduct a resource assessment to understand what is available and what gaps need to be filled.
3. Start small and scale
Start with a pilot project to test the idea and measure its viability and impact.
4. Collaborate and network
Partner with businesses or other social enterprises that can help with funding, mentorship, marketing etc.
5. Measure impact
Regularly measure both the financial and social impact, tracking key measurables to evaluate the success and make adjustments.
