McCosker Community Car Keeps Volunteers on the Move
For many volunteers, getting to where they’re needed can be the hardest part of helping out. Thanks to the McCosker Community Car, transport no longer needs to be a barrier for Gladstone’s generous community members.
The McCosker Community Car is a free vehicle available to not-for-profit organisations and their volunteers who hold current public liability insurance.
The car is easy to book, fuel is free, and it’s available for any approved volunteer activity. The only catch? Users must be aware of the insurance excess if an accident occurs—so careful driving and responsible use are essential.
Beyond providing a practical service, the McCosker Community Car plays a vital role in retaining and sustaining volunteers. Transport challenges are one of the most common barriers to volunteering, particularly for people who don’t have regular access to a vehicle or who live outside Gladstone. By removing that obstacle, the program opens the door for more people to connect, contribute, and stay involved.
Happy volunteering!
